Is Democracy really the best way of government?
I propose a Meritocracy (or possibly Technocracy), where every important post is filled by the most qualified.
A
minister of External Affairs would have some qualifications to work
with other countries and would perhaps be able to speak several
languages fluently (I'm looking at you, Villy Søvndal, why did you not at least get the Ministry of Education?). Someone administrating the National Reserves should
of course be an economist.
This in itself is merely an abstract idea,
to make it more concrete I would have to design a Bureaucratic system
to consider who should be appointed to these posts.
To be considered
for a post I propose a point-based system (which I know is political suicide, but listen to my proposal nonetheless), where people who have
published theses on the subject would be given points based on the
standing of said thesis (Has it been disproven? Do other people build their theses on it?) and how long it has been till the last published thesis of said
person (to ensure the one keeps being qualified).
The 10 highest scoring individuals in said field would then
be voted on, either by the public or others in the field, to ensure not
getting a very talented Nietsczhe Wannabe in charge.
Most handling of the point-system should of course not be handled by people but automatically by a computer-system that automatically calculates each persons points in each field.
So what do you think? Have I missed something? Could it work?
